Research Proposal 

We are required to find a topic based on the specialisation we intend to take and conduct research on it. The selected topic must be beneficial for us as a future designer. This module is the preparation of groundwork for the dissertation module next year. 

Research Proposal Draft 1

At first, I did not know what topic to choose and I chose this topic was because my interest in animations and I have always found movies have a huge impact on our lives. Film is one of the source of entertainment and it does not only bring joy to us but also moral lessons. Hence, I was thinking since films are so meaningful, I shall conduct research that is related to it and also it is under the Entertainment Design field.

Here, I got pretty lost and unsure of how to continue this research, then I was thinking maybe I can look into more topics again and decide a new topic. 

Research Proposal Draft 3

So I have decided to go study the character design in animated movies that resonates with the society’s gender inequality issue. This topic not only falls under entertainment design region but it also covers social issues. It does not focus on gender inequality issue in the society but it studies how character design in Disney animation changed over the years and reflects gender equality issue. That is where I am going for.

Week 7 

We were given chance to revise our proposals and i took my time to revise it properly because I did the final outcome in a short time, and i felt that I could do better.

A reminder that you are not Mass Communication student, avoid using words like ‘Raise awareness’ Define ‘past’ and ‘present’ more, narrow it down, find a specific time frame or period 4

Week 3 (15.09.2022)

Dr. Hayati advised me to define 'gender inequality' more thoroughly. For the Research Objective, whether to identify, to understand, to investigate. Rethink, define it more clearly, reflect whether it is achievable. 

Week 2 (08.09.2022)

Try to narrow down your scope for your target audience, your title. A reminder that you are not under film school, you are doing design course, as long as you keep it around the component of expertise is fine. Redefine your main target, number of characters Ensure that your research is beneficial for you as a future designer
